Astroscale, a new startup developing technologies to recycle space debris, plans to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in June. The Japanese company made this decision after meeting with foreign institutional investors in March, during which Astroscale’s representative received feedback on the new project.

Project support

Astroscale, a Japanese company founded 11 years ago by former government official Nobu Okada, focuses on developing technologies that will extend the life of satellites. It is currently developing a technology for disposing of space debris, such as obsolete satellites and spent rockets that pose a collision risk. The company currently has support in this area from the governments of Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

The firm considered going public last year but postponed it due to high risks arising from inconsistencies in estimates. The company’s representatives do not deny that they may postpone the listing this time if investor feedback is unsatisfactory.
